Before and After
Enjoy these Before and After photos – they are hands down our favorite part of the business.
Our story starts with your “Before”.
We work “In Between” to create stunning solutions.
Your “After” is evidence of and a testament to our passion for helping people get to where they want to be.
If you’re in “Before” mode, call us. We want to help you plan your space:
Is it going to just be amazing to look at?
Something special to set the tone for your world?
An elegant shady spot to sit in and wave at the neighbors?
A landing pad that accommodates your recreational activities?
Each individual lifestyle has its own answers. Let’s make your space the perfect reflection of you.
Xeriscapes
Gone are the days when xeriscape was synonymous with rusted wagon wheels and bovine skulls.
Our bag of tricks uses a rich mix of adapted, drought resistant, flowering plants and grasses, native stones and contrasting mulch or ground cover to create a spectacular display you wouldn’t even think of as xeriscape.
Welcome to your new – sustainable – natural environment. You’re so welcome!
Modern
Tastes in commercial and residential building exteriors have evolved past the tired, cookie-cutter, builder grade vision. Today people gravitate toward a custom look incorporating cleaner, more linear, and geometrically pleasing simplicity. Oh, and can I get that in “relatively maintenance free”?
As you upgrade your lifestyle, you’ll find yourself wanting a landscape that emphasizes and augments your hip choices to arrive at a whole new image.
Our approach to contemporary transitional or modern European-inspired surroundings will resonate with you. We have the vision, design skills, material, and construction knowledge to make it happen. See these pix and start imagining . . .
Rock Terracing
In nature rocks form the background canvas to show off plants. Our rock terracing brings that same nature to you.
Most folks are overwhelmed trying to figure out how to landscape a slope on their property. Intuitively they know rocks would do nicely there. But how?
Bring us in. We’ll build perfectly stable rock terracing that transforms a barren, blah area to one of interest, depth, and beauty.
A slope is not your problem? Even boring, flat areas light up and sing when we elevate them, use boulders, pebbles, and crushed granite to terrace the new terrain. Then we add plants. When we’re done, your imagination and expectations will have been met or most likely exceeded … promise!
Defining Walls
This ain’t our first rodeo – when it comes to keeping stuff back and up, you’d best have a good plan right out of the gate.
Build walls in your garden to define eye candy islands. Made of pressure-treated 4”x6” lumber recessed into place, rebar pounded into the ground and fist-sized screws – a teeny exaggeration there, these walls aren’t going anywhere.
Concrete walls are just as easy; takes a little longer though.
Lately we’ve forayed into using welded sheet metal to add a modern punch to our terracing designs. Gives your space a whole different vibe.
The cherry on top is organic soil used to build-up or backfill your island, make it level and to provide a fertile basis for your favorite plants.
Cactus & Succulent Gardens
This is where we come alive! Cactus and succulent gardens are unique and an unexpected departure from the norm, setting you miles apart from your neighbors.
Our geeky Master Gardener gets giddy when picking plants for arid micro-climates. A balanced design using feature pots with thrill, fill and spill combined with select in-ground plants make for captivating interest. With the help of efficient irrigation systems, we can optimize water usage, maintenance, and sustainability.
Remember though, if you’re practicing country living, the definition of succulent is “deer snacks.” Let’s be extra careful that what we plant isn’t on their menu.
Dry Creeks
Apart from being an absolute necessity in drainage challenged yards, dry creek beds are an understated way of creating unexpected serenity.
Visually connect areas of your landscape in a subtle, unobtrusive way. Using natural boulders, stones, river rocks, and native flora, our dry creeks force you to look beyond their function.
Imagine attracting butterflies and sitting in the middle of peace and rustic charm.
Arbors
Another one of those Texas things – we can’t be out there without shade.
An arbor is a survival structure in outdoor living. It should be a captivating focal point in the flow of the yard and aesthetically blend with its surroundings, inviting you to come sit a bit.
Say no to a plain wooden box frame – arbors are an opportunity to have fun with architectural elements. Caution though – arbors in Texas may insist on being outfitted with fans, misters and mood lighting.
Let’s figure it out and craft them from high-quality materials to protect your inve$tment for a decade or longer.
Decks
It’s Texas – gotta have a deck or three!
A cozy nook for morning coffee?
A sprawling entertainment area for gatherings?
A grilling area, water display, firepit or a kitchen space?
We’ll maximize your outdoor living space using premium, durable materials (treated hardwood, composite decking, or sustainable alternatives) to ensure your inve$tment returns longevity and beauty for years to come.
Look for our meticulous attention to detail in the photos – it’s our carpentry signature. Our passion to create outdoor retreats will make you known as the host with the most.
Wooden Fences
An old saying is “Good fences make great neighbors.” So, we build good fences. It’s really that simple.
If you are reimagining your space anyway, step far away from the dog ear picket fence that is going to die a disturbing death in a few short years. Think of a fence as a spectacular boundary. Flex its design to accommodate trees and other obstacles in its way rather than tearing the obstacles out. There’s a way around everything.
Let us build boundaries your neighbors will love you for.
Lawns
Let’s face it, folks – in Texas lush lawns are a luxury item and a labor of love.
If you’re going to do it for the long haul, there’s a lot of groundwork involved before the first piece of turf goes down. We start with the right foundation; count on a depth of the perfect soil being brought in. We use locally sourced turf and ideally, we incorporate a well-thought-out irrigation system to protect your inve$tment.
This comes with tips and tricks to give baby turf the best chance of surviving and transition it through to an established, vibrant lawn. The labor of love part is on you after we leave …
Pavers & Flagstone
Pavers cover a lot of ground, whether they’re a substitute for a wooden deck, a curvy garden path, an extended driveway, the floor of an outdoor kitchen or the non-slip rim around the pool.
When you decide to have a permanent hardscape installed, your range of choices will be pleasantly mind-boggling: natural stone, concrete, brick, granite, Italian marble – where does it end?
We’re happy to advise you on functionality and durability, what fits best where, and introduce you to material options you might not have thought about. Mostly we’re really glad YOU will be making the hard final decision – to us it’s all magnificent.
Contemporary Concrete Elements
Fun Fact: you can put as much concrete on your property as you wish without getting a permit from the city – now your HOA regulations may be a different story.
Concrete is a highly durable material, easy to clean and lasts forever. You have to love its versatility – it becomes anything you can put a form around.
We think of concrete as our first go-to for driveway widening. Now widen that thought to include uniquely designed geometrical patios, pathways or driveway sides.
We even pour concrete countertops for your outdoor kitchen. Yes, with fun aggregate included and polished down to show it off.
In Action
Hey – not even National Geographic shows purple rhinos in action! We’re here in Texas!
Our purple crew isn’t afraid of hard work. Every single day we use old-fashioned muscle might, elbow grease, skilled craftsmanship and technical savvy running equipment to create masterpieces. For us there are no short cuts that will leave you high and dry.
And we don’t stop when the Texas weather throws 100 degrees at us. Will say though, that we’re highly appreciative of a glass of chilled lemonade at that time.
Rusted Iron
Create an unexpected modern twist by using an entirely different material in your landscape: rusted iron panels. Who has that? Ohh wait….now you do!
Iron terraces integrate geometry into a landscape, adding next level contemporary looks that strips away the cookie cutter look of builder grade landscaping.
Custom welded iron containers are the plant beds you didn’t expect to own. Advantageous placement next to or on concrete strips, or adjacent boulders provides a design you won’t tire of for a long time. They will help you show off your “thrill, fill and spill” plantings.
Just simple magic! Want us to wave that wand for you?
